Matthew’s Story
Matthew Lane Hobby was a gifted, creative, and deeply loved young person whose life was marked by curiosity and connection. In 2011, at just 14 years old, Matthew died by suicide.
His loss forever changed those who loved him, and it revealed the urgent need for greater awareness, education, and compassion around mental health — especially for young people.
This Foundation exists to honor Matthew’s life by helping others feel seen, supported, and less alone — and by working to prevent other families from experiencing the same loss.
